Hanmer Springs Camp 2020!
Hanmer Springs Camp 2020!
On the 26th of February it was a very nice sunny day when my class went to Hanmer Springs for our school camp. At camp we did orienteering, mountain biking and tree climbing. The parents that looked after us while we were away were Aileen (Max’s mum), Chris (Jennah’s dad), George (Gabrielle’s dad), Barbara (Charlotte's mum) and the amazing teacher helpers Mrs Rooney and Miss Holland.
On the first day we went to the Hanmer Springs Hot Pools, it was super fun. Everyone was super excited to go there because we had just gone for an exhausting walk up Conical hill. When we got there we got a safety briefing from one of the many lifeguards, after the short briefing we got changed and headed straight to the hydroslides where basically no one was since it was a school day. Once I got to the top of the Conical thrill I was bursting with excitement because I hadn’t been on there before, the ride was so fun when Charlotte and I were going down the slide we got a bit of air-time, I thought I was flying. It was fun but also a bit scary. After many turns on all the hydroslides some of my friends and I went to the pool to shoulder wrestle and pop manus that was one of my favourite parts, it was as fun as a kid opening their christmas presents. Later some of my classmates and I went to the lazy river to play tag. It was super funny because people were pulling faces at each other, it was as funny as mace’s jokes.
On the second my group and another group went mountain biking this was one of my favourite activities because there was this really fun pump track that we got to go on, the obstacles were so windy I thought I was gonna fall off my bike. While the other group was on the pump track my group was having a competition with who could go the slowest, I won one round and Nate won the other. On the way back we went on this obstacle course. It was called snakes and ladders that was one of my favourite parts about mountain biking because it was so fun. Before all the fun started we had to do a safety briefing like checking if our brakes work right, if our seats were at the right height and of course if our tyres were pumped.
On the evening of the second day we had our talent show which was hilarious because there were twerking boys, joke telling teachers and many more acts. My group did a performance. We were doing Tiktok dances. it was fun, it put smiles on peoples faces so that was super cool. One of the acts was super funny and that was Jackson.O’s water drinking. I don't know exactly why it was funny but everyone was cheering him on and having a blast. After the amazing talent show the class all played spotlight it was very scary because there was a possum where I was hiding. The only bad thing about spotlight was that we got told off by the other school staying there.
Overall camp was very fun, it was a fun experience and it was nice getting to know a little bit more about the year 7’s and also Miss Holland. My favourite part about camp was everything, My favourite activity was probably orienteering because we used so much teamwork and it was also very enjoyable.

Silver Ferns
On the 13th of October my mum and I went to go watch the Silver Ferns play
against the Australian Diamonds in the first Constellation Cup match.
My mum and I arrived at Horncastle Arena around 3:15pm to get seated and ready
for the match because the game started at 4:00pm.
When both teams stepped out onto the court it was like there was a whole new
energy in the arena everyone was cheering and dancing it was amazing.
While both teams were warming up there were people who were giving out spot
prizes for the best dancing and I won, The prize chocolate and lucky enough it
was one of my favourites black forest. Finally the game started but they were
running a bit late so the game started around 4:15,
The 1st quarter was amazing there were so many great plays by each of the teams
and gladly the Silver ferns were winning!,
The 2nd quarter was even better Silver Ferns were still winning and there were
just some outstanding plays.
At the end of the 3rd quarter sadly the Silver Ferns were losing, but it was ok
because there still I more quarter. It was finally 50 seconds until the game was
finished and the Silver Ferns were winning everyone was cheering on both teams!!.
Everyone was counting down 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and the Silver Ferns won the first
2019 Constellation Cup match , Everyone was cheering with joy and dancing!!!.
After the game the Silver Fern and the Australian Diamonds were doing autographs
there was a massive crowd waiting to get autographs but some how I manged to get
in the front row while autographs were going I got to meet some of favourite netball
players, it was amazing after all of the autographs I went home and bragged about
my time at the game to my family. Overall it was an amazing experience and I
hope to enjoy it again one day.
